Meet our speakers

Dr Jehan Kanga, founder and CEO of Rux Energy.

Rux Energy is Founded and led by Dr Jehan Kanga, who discovered the advanced materials in their PhD at the University of Sydney, and following a trailblazing career at KPMG Australia has risen to become one of Australia’s most influential clean tech leaders, chairing the Hydrogen Industry Committee of the $250M Automation Composites Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre and leading consortia decarbonisation projects in maritime and aviation across UK, Singapore and Australia. They have built strategic links to over 100 key industrial hydrogen groups over the last two years since the end of the pandemic and are now gearing the company for scale.

Steve Sapsford, Managing Director, SCE

Steve Sapsford joined the automotive consultancy, Ricardo, in 1986 after graduating in Mechanical Engineering from Southampton University and worked in technical roles focusing on analysis and simulation of internal combustion engines and transmission systems.

In 2007, he became the Global Product Group Director for all gasoline engine business and then the Global Market Sector Director for high performance vehicles. In 2014 he became the Business Strategy Director for the Technical Consulting business with a special interest in sustainability and life-cycle analysis.

Steve left Ricardo in September 2018 to set up his own consultancy with a focus on future propulsions systems and the role for sustainable fuels in complementing electrification.

He is an Industrial Advisor for Transport at the University of Nottingham and a member of the Industrial Advisory Board (School of Engineering) at the University of Cardiff.  Steve was the chair of the Powertrain Systems and Fuels Group at the IMechE until June 2022 and recently co-chaired a UK Government Group regarding the application of H2ICE for off-road machinery.

Grahame Neagus, Head of LCV and Municipal for UK & Ireland at Renault Trucks UK.

 

Grahame has been in the industry since 1984, covering a variety of roles within the Truck and Van sales arena in UK, Europe and USA. Starting with Seddon Atkinson and progressing onto Foden Trucks and the Paccar Inc, Lex Autolease before joining Renault Trucks to head up the Light Commercial Division for the UK & Ireland.

Having spent over 38 years in the industry and across both the HGV and LCV sectors, Grahame has a wealth of knowledge and passionate experience which now encompasses the transition into electromobility and other alternative fuels as we move into a cleaner and fossil free future.

 

Randal Smith, Consultant on EV, EV Charging and Renewable Energy.

Randal came from a Royal Air Force career as a senior military officer in aviation engineering before joining Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) as the Project Manager for the Jaguar I-Pace, taking the EV from concept through to final production.  He later led teams to electrify the UK JLR Retailer network with EV tooling, training and an EV charging network to allow the launch of the I-Pace into the UK market.

He then became the MD of an established company to successfully build up a new EV charging business, putting it on target to achieve a £1m stretch target turnover in the first FY.

He was then head hunted to be the Chief Operating Officer of Urban Fox, a new startup backed by Balfour Beatty with an innovative award winning retractable on-street charging solution. Randal was then head hunted again to become the Group Chief Technical Officer for Project EV & Project Curv, two companies providing advanced cutting edge technical solutions in the fields of EV charging and net-zero emission eco-friendly homes with solar PV and battery storage, successfully merging the 2 companies together to act as one.

He is also a regular speaker on the EV and Renewable Energy show and conference circuits, and is a Consultant on EV, EV Charging and Renewable Energy.
