Design for… ‘Life’

Date: 12th September 2024
Location: Vulcan Works, Northampton

Electronics Special Interest Group Event

Design for… What? Everything?

Design for life. It’s just that fundamental. It’s impossible to design for any one thing in isolation or you’ll take your eye off the ball completely.

Design for prototype. Design for Manufacture. What about volume? For access? For repair. Always for cost. Design for aesthetics but for efficiency. Don’t forget sustainability. Recyclability. Durability. You want cybersecurity in the mix? Privacy? That’s no problem, we’ll just add compliance and all your other — as yet unnamed — constraints to the pot.

In partnership Smart Manufacturing Week, the STC are very pleased to welcome our newly formed Electronics SIG (previously our Wearable Technology Special Interest Group), who will be offering their thoughts on navigating a path to what ‘good’ design in electronics should look like — along with some of the pitfalls out there.

Bringing together expert speakers, informed discussion and networking for building those new connections.

EVENT SUMMARY & DOWNLOADS

Our Electronics SIG event brought together like-minded people, all interested in hearing about what ‘good’ design in electronics should look like, and finding out from our experts the pitfalls to avoid.

The roundtable format encouraged discussions and it was fantastic to see everybody engaging in conversation.

We’ve received excellent feedback from the attendees, who were really impressed with the presenters.

Thanks to our SIG champions for joining us and sharing their expertise, and to our excellent speakers:

Christa Boren, Ripcord Designs
James Endicott, XCAM
Nick Fox-Male, Advancing Innovations
David Pashley, Direct Insight
Garry Myatt, PP Control & Automation
Richard Rydon, Partner Electronics
Colin Jackson, Partner Electronics

Thanks also to Vulcan Works for hosting at their brilliant venue, and to event partner Smart Manufacturing Week.

And last but not least, thank you to all of our guests.

All of the presentations and videos will be emailed to delegates. Plus STC members have exclusive access to all of our event recordings, all of the time, via the STC Forum, YouTube and the website.
