POST SMT (SURFACE MOUNT TECHNOLOGY) MANAGER

Jaltek is searching for a Post SMT Manager who will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery and complete customer satisfaction in all areas of ownership for a variety of major OEM’s.
The Role:
Primary focus will at all times be upon ensuring timely delivery and complete customer satisfaction in all areas of ownership. This will be realised through training and the development, implementation and driving-forward of achievable improvement targets to processes, team-working, speed of action and resolution of recurring operational issues. The role will be responsible for manufacturing post surface mount, also managing and motivating the team. These activities include: Component preparation / PCBA Insertion, Selective Soldering, Hand Soldering, PCB Modifications, Rework, Conformal Coat, In process Inspection and Despatch.
Main Responsibilities:
- Accurate planning and project control throughout – ensuring all staff know what is expected of them during the shift and confirmation of achievement.
- Identification of critical path issues and driving through of key actions to achieve on-time resolution every time.
- To coach and train others in all manufacturing disciplines
- Implement practices that ensure the company delivers to customer right first time & every time, using the SQDCP process
- Development of sustaining services offerings.
- Ensuring quality principles & standards are applied & adhered to throughout areas of responsibility
- Active involvement in Quote V Actual times performance analysis & improvement planning
- To oversee, control and monitor the activities of manufacturing, timely materials delivery to point of use, quality and health/safety to meet customer-driven performance criteria.
- Build-in manufacturing flexibility to cope with inaccurate customer forecasts & changes in product requirements
- Assure products are manufactured in accordance with defined build instructions and IPC-A-610 standards
- Ensure all deviations from IPC-A-610 standards are clearly & concisely documented on build instructions prior to commencement of any work on customers products
- Ensure all processes are stringently adhered to, any gaps or process improvements should be highlighted to your immediate Manager. They will ensure that effective remedial actions are taken in a timely manner including updating supporting documentation in QMS
- To initiate and maintain continuous improvement programmes in area of responsibility
- Working collaboratively with other team leaders to meet the goals of the business, communicating any deviation to the commercial teams
- Ensure all non-conforming product & components are booked into the MRB process in a timely & satisfactory manner
- Minimise / Elimination of waste in all areas of responsibility
- Implementation of housekeeping standards which ensure that the facility meets world class standards and is always in an “audit ready” state
- Adherence to Human Resources procedures including but not limited to the following: Return to Work Interviews, absenteeism, timekeeping, holidays, inductions, probationary reviews
Skills and experience:
- Thorough knowledge of electronic components
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing environments
- Experience of Microsoft products including Excel & Word
- Experience of using ERP systems and databases
- Working knowledge of the Toyota Manufacturing System
- Demonstrable experience of managing multiple projects
- Soldering – IPC Class 3 (working towards J Std)
- Experience of Conventional Component placement, Soldering, Removal & Replacement
- Experience of carrying out PCBA Modifications
- Experience of PCBA inspection
- Supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to prioritise and keep calm under pressure
- Problem solver with excellent communication skills
- Experience of Mechanical Assembly (Box Build) – desirable but not essential
- Experience of cable assembly, wiring & crimping- desirable but not essential
