Description:
Silverstone Museum, located trackside at Silverstone Circuit in a former WW2 hangar, takes visitors on a journey of the circuit’s history – from an RAF airfield to a world-leading Formula 1 racetrack.
Housed in the exhibition is a wealth of exhibits, a treasure trove of historical artefacts and memorabilia, and the museum’s prized collection of iconic racing cars and motorbikes, from the 1930s right through to modern day. We tell the story of the legendary sporting venue that is Silverstone, of the British Racing Drivers’ Club and the history of British motor racing.
Inspiring children and young people to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is at the heart of all we do at Silverstone Museum. Our incredible catalogue of workshops help to inform and motivate young people at whatever stage of their education, whether it’s learning about how Formula 1 tyres work, or understanding aerodynamics and the careers available within motorsport.
We maintain the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) archive and collection on-site.
