Established by Royal Charter on 23 April 1969, The Open University is the leading university for flexible, innovative teaching and world-leading research in the United Kingdom and 157 countries worldwide. Its main campus at Milton Keynes caters for 4,000 people and it has taught over two million students since it was established in 1969.
The OU comprises four main faculties: Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM); Business & Law; Arts and Social Science; and Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies

We have extensive expertise in research and external engagement and a proven track record of benefiting organisations large and small. There are many different ways in which you can access our knowledge base and work collaboratively with us to help fulfil your organisation’s potential.
The OU’s Enterprise Team has a dedicated role to develop Knowledge Exchange opportunities and to work with partners. We maximise our impact through major collaborations with external organisations ranging from public bodies to third-sector to business, benefiting the economy, society and cultural life. We also enable opportunities for enhancing and diversifying income from grants, consultancy, licensing, collaborative research sponsorship/contract research and spin-outs.
